Do you struggle to find the time and motivation to exercise regularly? I think we all can to some degree!
Jimmy and I have been trying to make a huge effort to get to the gym and exercise more! We slacked off a little after moving into our house and just seeming like there has been so much to do! Can anyone relate? Ha! I am sharing 5 tips that are helping keep me motivated in exercising 3-4 times a week!
5 Tips To Staying Motivated to Exercise Regularly
- Make it fun – By nature, humans need fun and variation! You are more likely going to stick with something if it is fun. Therefore, try variations of different cardio and switch it up to keep things interesting. Find something that suits you.
- Schedule your workout – If it is in your schedule, it becomes a part of your routine! Find a time that works for you, your family, and your lifestyle. I love a good fitness class that charges for no shows because it gives you the motivation to actually go when you schedule it!
- Find support in others – Support is KEY! When I go with Jimmy, I find he motivates me and pushes me to higher limits. I love going to group classes for this reason. I find I push myself harder when I have others pushing themselves alongside me. When I am alone, I find it easier to slack off. Whether it is going with someone or just having the support you need to get there, find it!
- Be flexible with yourself – If you are feeling extremely sore or tired, give yourself a day off. If you push yourself too hard, it is no longer is enjoyable therefore you are more likely to quit altogether!
- Set goals – Set yourself a goal at the beginning of each week. These need to be realistic. You won’t go from couch potato to marathon runner overnight, so the goal also needs to be adaptable to your lifestyle. Some goals could include to workout 3 times this week or run a mile 4 times this week. As long as you have something to work towards and push yourself closer to each week.
