Sometimes, there’s nothing better than staying in and snuggling up with your spouse, reveling in the comfort of your own home. Dating your significant other is extremely important as it allows you time to truly focus on nothing more than your relationship. Date nights are definitely looking different as of late. Since we can’t really leave our homes and go out for dates, we have to be creative with stay at home date night ideas that are both romantic and fun.
One of my biggest tips for any date night is to hide your phones to ensure you are distraction-free. This allows you to give 100% of yourself to quality time with your spouse.
Romantic & Fun Stay At Home Date Night Ideas
1. Stargaze in the Backyard
Cuddle up on your patio furniture, hammock, or even on a blanket in the grass. Take the time to enjoy the stars and the moon. This is one of my favorite ways to spend my evening with my husband. There is something about basking in the quiet stillness of the night and enjoying the sky lit up.
2. Cook Dinner Together
Cooking together turns dinner into quality time. Cook your favorite meal or a brand new meal that you have been wanting to try. There are so many recipes available online that there will always be countless options.
3. Backyard Picnic
Set up a blanket in the grass, grab your drink of choice, and enjoy lunch or dinner. Grab food from your favorite local restaurant, make a quick dinner, or enjoy leftovers.
4. Pinterest Bake Night Challenge
You each pick a dessert recipe off of Pinterest. Bake the recipes side by side in the kitchen while spending time together. After the baking is complete, do a taste testing o determine the best recipe and cook. Loser has to clean the kitchen up!
5. Neighborhood Walk or Bike Ride
Get out of the house for some fresh air and sunshine. Vitamin D is good for your body and soul. Enjoy a nice walk or bike ride around your neighborhood. This will help keep you sane with all of the time spent indoors as of late.
6. Wine Tasting at Home
Choose a theme such as a specific grape, region, or style. Pick out the wines you want to taste. It would be fun to add a cheese or chocolate pairing with each bottle. You can set them up in different areas of your home and go around testing the wines.
7. Watch Wedding Video/Go Through Your Wedding Photos
Spend a night reminiscing on your relationship. Watch your wedding video and look through your wedding album. You could even start with photos from the beginning of your relationship working up to the wedding and then to now. Sometimes I think we take for granted all the time we have spent together and the good memories we have built. Reminiscing is definitely good for the soul.
8. Game Night
This could be board games, yard games, or even video games. Make this date fit your relationship. Don’t forget to get a little competitive and maybe even challenge each other to a bet.
Some ideas include Quixx, Skipbo, Sushi Go, Monopoly Deal, DOS, Cornhole, What Do You Meme?, Giant Jenga, Escape Room in a Box, Code Names, Ladder Toss, Avocado Smash, and Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza.
9. Movie Marathon
Pretend like you are at the movie theater. Turn off all the lights and close the curtains to make it dark. Gather your movie theatre food of choice whether you prefer a hotdog, popcorn, candy, or a combination. Jimmy and I will typically take turns picking the movies keeping us both interested.
10. Camping in Your Living Room
Build a fort in your living full of pillows, blankets, and lots of snuggling. You could even enjoy some stovetop s’mores making to enhance the camping feel.
11. Work Out Together
You each choose a 20-30 minute workout and do both workouts together. This is a fun twist on a typical date night but gets your blood pumping which is perfect for when you are feeling cooped up.
12. Couples Conversation Starter Cards
Purchase these conversation cards off of Amazon. These are thought-provoking conversation starters specifically designed for couples. From the creator: “The questions are intended to open up your hearts and minds to really hear what your partner is telling you. This game will keep you learning about each other forever and your relationship will stay as fresh as the day you first met.”
13. Do a Puzzle Together
Pick a fun puzzle that speaks to your personality and spend an evening putting it together. Working on a puzzle side by side that is low-stress makes for really great conversation and connection.
A few fun puzzle ideas I found on Amazon: cat puzzles, travel puzzles, dog puzzles, and space puzzles.
14. Plan Your Dream Vacation
We are all going a little stir crazy and definitely are feeling the travel itch. Plan your next dream vacation together. Pick a location, a timeline, and get to planning an itinerary. When all of this is over, maybe you can go on that dream vacation you planned out.
15. Create Your Own Spa Experience
This date is the definition of relaxation. Slip into your robe and slippers. Make a pitcher of your favorite infused water. Put face masks on each other. Enjoy massages from each other. Take a bubble bath with wine in hand.
16. Home Improvement Project Together
My husband and I really enjoy working together on projects whether it is building corn hole boards, pressure washing the patio, or hanging decorations. It is fun to create something together and enjoy each other’s company while doing it.
17. Cocktail Making Content
Get creative and maybe a little tipsy. See who can come up with the best recipe from the items you already have in your refrigerator. You will have fun being creative and competitive with each other.
18. YouTube Dance Lesson
Find a dance lesson on Youtube and spend your date night mastering the moves. It could be salsa, two-step, hip hop, or even belly dancing. Now is the perfect time to learn a few moves.
19. Create Your Ultimate Bucket List
What things do you want to do in your lifetime? This could look different for everyone from a travel bucket list to an achievement bucket list. Get your dreams on paper and make them happen.
20. Take Personality Tests
You each take a personality test separately then talk about your results. Are they accurate to how you see your partner? Do you agree with your results?
21. Coffee Date
Make your favorite coffee and spend the morning talking together on your patio or around your kitchen table.

23. Draw or Paint Portraits of Each Other
Whip out your colored pencils or paints and create a portrait of one another. If you aren’t artistic, it will make for funny outcomes and some good laughs.
24. Karaoke Night
Belt out your favorite tunes together. With the help of YouTube, you can get tons of songs with the lyrics on the screen. Spend the night serenading each other with fun and romantic hits or sharing duets with each other.
25. Channel Your Inner Kid
Whether it is a nerf gun war or a pillow fight, channel your inner kid, and let loose for a night. Have the time of your life and worry about cleaning up later.
